Prorated amounts usually paid when a service does not occur for an entire time period. An example of a prorated amount would be rent only paid for 15 days of a month instead of the normal 31. You would figure this amount by dividing the total amount due by the number of days in the month, then multiply them by the number of days the prorated amount is for.

Why do you need to do this calculation? I'm assuming it might be for rent. The most common reason of all. First of all how many days are there in the month you're figuring and how much is your rent?
