If you have a branch from a tree and it's big enough to be planted in the ground. You can plant the branch and water until the branch takes root in your yard.

To grow a tree from a branch, cut off a small branch that's no longer than 12 inches or so, and plant it in a flower pot, with good potting soil. Pack the soil firmly around the branch or stem, and keep the soil watered. Put the flower pot in the shade with just a little sunlight. Within a few months, you should see it start sprouting little green leaves. If not, then it's a dud, and you might need to try again. It's very difficult to grow a tree this way, however, it is possible.
