How To Make A Paper Mache Dragon Head

Find a good size oval balloon. Blow up to the desired size of your dragon head. Now, you will need to make your paper mache batter. Add a few cups of flour to a large bowl. Add enough water, stirring thoroughly to prevent lumps, to make a pancake-like batter. Tear some strips (lots) from newspapers. Dip the strips into the batter, one at a time, and scrape off the excess batter. Wrap these around your balloon, covering completely. Add some folded paper strips in the appropriate area to make your ears, mouth, teeth, nostrils, etc. These can be stuck on with the batter, adding extra wet strips around the base to secure. Keep working until you have the proper shape head as thick as you would like. Allow to dry completely and then paint with poster paint.
