Take thick yard strings and use a bristled brush to shag them into dreads. These can be sewn onto cloth dolls to create a rag head or for a grass skirt.

Get some yarn and a pair of scissors. Cut the yarn to double the size of the desired length of the yarn dreads and then fold them in half. Repeat until you have enough yarn for your desired thickness. Then use something round n size about half an inch wide to wrap the yarn around, even on both sides. Cut another piece of yarn and tie it just under where the yarn meets again after being wrapped around the item. Tie it multiple times to secure it. Then cut four long pieces of yarn and secure it to the top so you have one long side. Then you will wrap the long pieces around the original pieces as tightly as you desire your dreads.
