Under Article 7 of the Nationality Law of the PRC, foreigners can apply to become Chinese citizens if they: 1. have Chinese national close relatives, 2. have settled in a part of China or 3. have other legitimate reasons for citizenship. In order to become a Chinese citizen you have to meet one of these criteria: have close relatives that are Chinese citizens, have settled in China, or have another legitimate reason.
