Every dollar is made up of 100 pennies/cents. You would want to write it out as "three thousand two hundred cents" instead of "X dollars and X cents", for example.

We take it that you are writing a check and wanting to know how to write the amount in cents. Do note that even if there are no cents, you will indicate this on your check, e.g. $3.00. If your check is for less than a dollar, e.g. 75 cents, it would be written $0.75. Another example, for five dollars and 35 cents, it would be $5.35.
